22nd January – With thanks to Southampton City Council

So, I was heading from east street car park to east street itself. Due in no small park to the complete absence of dropped curbs I went along the edge of the road.

There was a deep pot hole that I fell into. This broke the two metal poles on the back of my wheelchair, as well as destroying the stabiliser. I smacked my head on the concrete.

So thank you Southampton City council for the very effective destruction of my wheelchair, giving me my first ride in an ambulance, a joy filled afternoon on vomitting with concussion and an evening in A&E.

But I also saw the kindness of strangers. People who saw the accident and came to help. Genuinely lovely people – and to them a sincere thank you.
